Guinea Pig Art.

Just wanted to show off some Guinea Pig love you can find on ETSY. Some awesome art I am thinking of adding to my home. My crafting room/guinea pig room could use some more art I think.

Think I might have to post a Etsy findings every week.

Cute guinea pig as little red riding hood print. Found at SuzannesGallery on Etsy.

Guinea pig tea party found at LalisLittleWorldOn on Etsy. I find it amazing the little one was able to stand like that long enough for a photo. Mine usually do that when I have a treat in hand. ;)

Finally this artist is just amazing. Guinea pig as a pirate. Found at WhenGuineaPigsFly on Etsy.

Random Things.

I have not posted in so long here but I am still alive! I need to catch up with everyone.

Work has been taking a front seat in my life for the past 3 weeks. I took a IT certification exam last week and crossing my fingers I passed. Really think I did. The hours of studying about did me in. Still it's worth it.

I am going to jump fully into my shop again. I hope everyone is doing well! I can't believe March is almost over. I'm going to go ahead and catch up on things that needed to be posted. I fell behind and yeah....

Oh and wanted to share a recent pic. Recent buy off of Etsy from TheDarkMonkey. Great addition to my laptop.

Awesome Vday swap I got with my Etsy Team: Etsy Tea Party. My swap partner was non other then Twinkie-Chan. I was shocked and happy to get these goodies. I loved it!

This is a picture of what you first see when entering my townhouse. The big rock candy mountain there was done by Heidi from MyPaperCrane. I got to meet her for the first time at a craft fair in Philly a few years back. I am a lover of ice cream so I couldn't pass that little guy up. The guinea pigs were made after my 3 girls; Ethel, Suzette, and Ann Marie. The wonderful lady that created them from pictures I sent her is Murumoto. I need to contact her again and commission her to create one for my newest girl Abby. Oh and the one behind them is a TY beanie baby my sister sent me for Christmas.

Happy bday Dr. Seuss.

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss. Even though you are gone your books live on. I still have all my Dr. Seuss books from childhood which really was passed around between my brothers and sister. The books finally got to me and I hope to pass them on to my kids when I go down that road.

Awesome documentary I found on YouTube.

OH and my all time favorite Dr. Seuss tale is The Lorax. I also can't wait for 2012 to roll around because supposedly Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment are working on developmenting a 3-D version of The Lorax.

Cross-Stitch & My Non-Art Skills.

Preview of my next cross-stitch project. My mad drawing skills as well.

Popcorn is my 2nd favorite snack. Ice cream being my first favorite. I'm thinking of stuffing the felt popcorn so it pops out a little bit. I'll have to see where this project goes. Usually I run with things and figure it out along the way. I like having complete control over my project and hate directions.

I have a few other things I have created embroidery wise but have not update the shop with them yet. Hopefully I get time this weekend to do that.

Have a great weekend everyone!

New Etsy Layout.

I am so in love! My amazing and talented friend Dawn created a new Etsy banner for me and avatar. I love it completely. Just had to show off the new threads for my Etsy shop. I will now stare at it a little bit longer and then head to bed.

I also won a great giveaway over at Magnet Games Flickr account. She has a amazing Etsy shop as well.
What I won:

The hearts were hanging out with me for Vday.

The magnets are now on my refrigerator right next to a picture my niece drew for me.

Happy Vday & Swaps.

Crafting.

Here is something I just finished for my sister for Vday. I know it's late but at least she can have it hanging all year long.
The pattern came from St. Vicious Blog. Amazing artist and she was offering this as a PDF V-day card. I thought it would look amazing with embroidery work.

Oh! Here is my recent tattoo. I love it completely. MyPaperCrane's husband Tom. He created the design and did the tattooing for me. He is a amazing guy just like his wife.
I have another tattoo planned as well. Oh and I'm sure my mom will find out somehow. She hates all of my tattoos. I love you mom!

Thrift Shopping.

One of the most amazing things about where I live is the awesome thrift stores. I have found some awesome things while going through them. There is also a Animal Shelter thrift store that raises money for there shelter of course. Usually I donate all my items I want to get rid of to them. A few months ago I gave them a old TV I didn't want anymore. It sold within a few days.

Here are some of my finds!
8/365
This cute little plush set was started but never finished. It's from Avon which I never knew they offered craft projects? On the back with the instructions it says 1979. When I am done this will be going up in my shop. These cute little guys deserve to be finished and loved.

7/365
I found this awesome Barbie and Ken fabric as well. The Barbie and Ken letters were done in embroidery. I'm going to fix that up and maybe add some more embroidery as well. I have yet to figure out what to do with them. I was thinking maybe pillows or just framing them.

Crafting & Paper Dolls.

Here is a sneak peek of a embroidery project I just finished. I call it sneak peak because the lighting is not that great/etc. You can't really see my french knots on the umbrella! This was a test run and I really love how it turned out. Will be added to the shop soon with a couple of other pieces.

Oh! I found these awesome printable paper doll sets too the other day. I love random finds through google. You can find more paper dolls at Paper Dolls by Helen Page website. I think every child should have a chance to play with paper dolls! I think these are awesome for scarp booking or any other craft projects you have.

Mini Cards!

Just wanted to show my new mini cards off! I will be passing these around to family and friends. Also, will include them in every purchase from my shop. If you would like one let me know and I'll just need your address to send a few. I have some lovely Chinese New Year stamps I can use then. :D

The background is another project I am working on for my shop. I have also completed my Vday swap items for my Etsy Team: Etsy Tea Party. Will show that later once the person has my swap.

I was visiting in town over the weekend doing my thrift shopping. I love the Olympia Candy Kitchen's displays for every holiday/season/etc. I wonder how long it takes to set up everything...

Here are a few of my cross-stitch and embroidery pieces that are now up in my Etsy shop. All of these pieces were created by myself and my not so wonderful drawing skills. I think it turned out well...

My next one is going to be something for me and no one else. I am jealous that everything I make goes into my shop. I want something for myself. I have a little sketch of a guinea pig I'm going to work with I think.

I have a long love for ice cream. I will eat it in any season and never turn it down. A bowl of ice cream always lifts my spirits.

Dinosaurs seem to only be for the boys out there. I made a couple for just us girls!

My inspiration behind this Strawberry Cake is the movie Marie Antoinette and the quote, "Let them eat cake." I had to include the lace, bows, flowers, and crown too.

Coming Along

I have been working on updating my shop and here is a few things to come. I have to get off my lazy butt and take better pictures and list them on Etsy. I lose track of time and realize that the sun is already down! WORK WITH ME SUN!! *shakes fist*

I am trying to do more with embroidery and cross stitching. Cross stitching really takes a lot of time and my bigger projects can take about a month or two. My Strawberry Cake took me almost 2 months. That's with the Holidays thrown in there as well.

OH! My Etsy Group: Etsy Tea Party is running a sale this month. We are selling Fukubukuro Dolly Sweet Grab Bags! What the heck is Fukubukuro?

Fukubukuro (福袋, lucky bag, mystery bag?) is a Japanese New Year's Day custom where merchants make grab bags filled with unknown random contents and sell them for a substantial discount, usually 50% or more off the list price of the items contained within. The low prices are usually done to attract customers to shop at that store during the new year. The term is formed from Japanese fuku (福, good fortune/luck) and fukuro (袋, bag). The change of fukuro to bukuro is the phenomenon known as rendaku. Fukubukuro usually are snapped up quickly by eager customers, with some stores having long lines snake around city blocks hours before the store opens on New Year's Day. Formerly, Fukubukuro were an easy way for stores to unload excess and unwanted merchandise from the previous year, due to a Japanese superstition that one must not start the New Year with unwanted trash from the previous year and start clean. Nowadays, Fukubukuro are pushed as a lavish New Year's event rather than a way for stores to get rid of excess merchandise.
((Thank you Wikipedia!!))

To look for these great items just go to Etsy and search for the tags 'etsy tea party' and 'Fukubukuro'. Or you can use this link HERE. I have two grab bags listed.

Here are a few things I am working on from embroidery, cross stitch, brooches, and hair accessories. Please note: This is not the final product. Mostly what I take pictures of while I am working. I like to add things/etc. ;D

2009 ReCap

Pretty much my recap of 2009! Here are a few pictures:

Abby my newest guinea pig came to join my little family. She is doing really well and currently is sharing a cage with my oldest guinea pig Ethie.

Took a trip back home to IL to visit family. My sister as well flew out from WA which was awesome of her. My family lives about 20mins from St. Louis, MO. They don't get all the cold weather like Chicago.

My Uncle's passing this year so I flew out to CA. I spent half my childhood out there. It was very sad I and my family misses him so much.

The opening of my Etsy shop! Thank you to everyone that has supported me.

My first ever commission from Linds at SickForCute. This is actually one of her own artwork she wanted me to create in cross-stitch.

Took a cruise ship to Alaska this year with my family. It was amazing and fun! We also spent another week in WA with my sister visiting her.

Another picture from the trip to Alaska.

This doesn't look like much but this little towel got me back into cross-stitching which lead to the opening of my Etsy Shop. I started cross-stitching when I was about 8 and stopped later in high school. Not "cool" enough but I finally got back into it in 2009.
